Item Description
Fine Chinese Art Deco Carpet
3.54 x 2.77 m
Baktiar carpets, woven in Northwest Persia, are well known as among the most distinct, and thus highly sought after, Persian weavings, thanks to their unique combination of the playful, geometric designs of nomadic and tribal rugs, and the grand scale and high-quality craftsmanship one would expect of a Persian workshop piece.
This fine c. 1900s Baktiar carpet, woven in high-grade hand-spun wool, features an uncommon ivory field, forming a wonderful backdrop to its well-balanced all-over floral design, influenced by classical European weavings of the 18th and 19th Centuries, framed by a wide terracotta border.
Retained in very good condition for everyday use, with its borders preserved on all sides.
A handsome carpet, with the versatility to suit a variety of interior styles.
