Item Description
Circa 1900, exhibition quality pair of walnut silvered and yew wood serving tables. In the manner of William Kent, with yew wood cross banded top, yew wood oysters and quarter matching veneers. The elaborate apron to the front has a large full relief carved face of a goddess within a carved cartouche, the sides with further foliate carving and large silvered scallop shelves, also carved in full relief. The table stands on four substantial cabriole legs with massive silvered lion heads to the top with silver faceted decoration wrapping around the bottom of the leg, beneath this a realistic hairy paw foot. The back of the top overhangs the back legs allowing the tables to go flush against the wall and avoid the skirting board.
