Item Description
A good pair of French giltwood mirrors.
They are designed in the Rococo style, which is evident in their elegant proportions and detailed decoration - tall, rectangular, with a gently arched top.
The mirror frames are richly decorated with gilded, carved wood. Please take a look at all our pictures to see the intricate detailing - beaded inner edges, floral patterns, and the outer is reeded with ribbon motifs.
There is a crisply carved floral and ribbon garland draped across the upper arch of each frame, culminating in an ornate ribbon bow at the centre top. This garland detailing is highly decorative and typical of 18th-century French design. These mirrors are circa 1900.
The original mirror plates are bevelled at the edge and have foxing consistent with their age.
Perfect above console tables, fireplaces, or for a dressing room - French antique mirrors at their best!
