A Fine Pair of Italian Mid 18th Century Console or Side Tables in the Rococo Style and with an Original Silver Gilt Finish.
These exuberant and attractive tables are a fine example of the Italian rococo. The rococo taste swept through Europe, having been introduced by the great French designers. Like their English counterparts, Italian rococo pieces tended to be much more subtle and these tables incorporate the familiar rococo detailing such as swags of foliage, C and S scrolls and shell work.
The tables are of a very good size and have their original silver gilt finish which has aged beautifully with stunning patination and colour.
The tables have faux marble tops, painted at a later date. Pairs of tables of this sort are very rarely encountered and we are delighted to be able to offer them to our clients.
