Item Description
This is a pair of vintage figural andirons. An English, cast iron fire dog in the manner of the Carron Foundry, dating to the Art Deco period, circa 1930.
Fascinating Victorian revival andirons, with good proportion and visual appeal
Displaying a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout
Good consistent graphite finish, with gentle wear to the figure's head
Cast in the manner of the Carron Foundry originals, a Scottish ironworks established in 1759
Charming figures presented in bust form on raised supports with cast fire tool motif
Distinctive front legs presented as nautical representations of fish, with scales and fins
Long rear support leg with bowed form, offering a generous basket rest of 40cm (15.75'') depth
This is a delightful pair of figural andirons, the bust form being redolent of awards statues and the proportion being well suited to larger hearths. Delivered ready for the fireplace.
