Item Description
A fine and elegant Queen Anne period walnut bureau bookcase, dating to circa 1710, presented in excellent showroom condition.
This beautiful piece displays richly figured walnut, with superb colour and patina. The upper section features two glazed doors opening to reveal three height-adjustable shelves, along with two candle slides and three small drawers—ideal for storing writing essentials or personal items.
The bureau section opens to reveal a newly fitted, hand-dyed green leather writing surface. Inside, there is a thoughtfully arranged interior with pigeonholes and small drawers for organisation, with a central cupboard and working lock/key.
Below, the base offers practical storage with a traditional two-over-two drawer arrangement, each drawer front cross-banded and feather-banded for a refined decorative touch. All drawers run smoothly and retain attractive brass handles.
Raised on shaped bracket feet, this piece comes apart in two sections for ease of transport.
A wonderful opportunity to acquire an early 18th-century walnut bureau bookcase of this quality, ready to grace any period or contemporary setting.
