Item Description
A rare cast boot scraper with 'tree branch' and organic detail. Surface rust removed and repainted.
In the second half of the 19th century, the Victorians became obsessed with nature and 'the great outdoors', and strove to bring it into their own home domain. The result of this meant many individuals started collecting taxidermy, birds' eggs, moths and butterflies, rock specimens, and ferns. Manufacturers of garden furniture and ornaments took advantage of this interest by designing items that incorporated aspects of the natural world, such as shells, trees, and plants.
