Item Description
Description
Carmen Roger’s still life painting captures a moment of quiet, intimate reflection through dynamic composition and richly expressive brushwork. The scene unfolds across a warmly lit table scattered with painter’s tools, a porcelain cup, and loosely draped fabrics, all rendered in sweeping, gestural strokes. A single flower in a slender glass vase adds a note of delicacy and transience, while the overall palette—rooted in deep purples, soft lilacs, and vibrant ochres—infuses the work with both warmth and emotional depth. Roger’s control of light and texture guides the eye from object to object, revealing an intuitive balance between structure and spontaneity. Her painterly language—both refined and raw—evokes echoes of early 20th-century modernism while remaining grounded in contemporary realism. This work offers a timeless, poetic energy that enhances any contemplative space with sophistication and style.

Artist Details
Carmen Roger (b. 1962, Barcelona) is a Spanish painter whose deep connection to nature began in childhood, divided between city and countryside. She trained at A. Gaeta’s studio and the Massana School, later continuing her studies at the Escuela Libre del Mediterráneo in Palma de Mallorca, where she lived for several years. In 1985, she joined the stage design team for the Monte Carlo Ballets under Joaquín Torrents Lladó, with whom she collaborated until 1995. Upon returning to Barcelona, she co-founded the BASE School in 1997 and has since taught painting while continuing her artistic practice and exhibiting in Spain, Europe, and the Americas. In 2006, she moved to Empordà, where she now works and teaches from her studio. Her expressive, organic compositions explore themes of transformation, duality, and the poetic rhythms of life.
