Item Description
A small early 19th century French marriage mirror. These iconic little mirrors were often placed in the bridal chest for young newly married couples. The distinctive laurel leaf crest to this particular one could possibly have been designed to symbolise strength and honour. The gold leaf has mellowed over the past two centuries but retains deep lustre. A small section of the frame beneath still shows the original moss green painted surface. Some minor historical rubs in places, only adding to its charm. Original glass plate with ancient pine backboards. Circa 1820.
