Item Description
A late 18th century English Elm and Oak dresser base. The top to this pretty Georgian base boasts the most beautiful single piece of thick solid Elm spanning the entire length, the front corners are gently rounded. Below is a small single drawer to the centre with a larger drawer to either side all set within the oak carcass, each with decorative period escutcheons and brass swans neck handles. The legs to the foreground are cabriole in design with straighter sturdy legs to the back, also in oak typical of the period. Over two centuries of use, wear and polishing have developed the most exquisite colour and rich deep patina to the entire piece. The back consists of another long thick piece of seasoned Elm. English country house dresser base circa 1780.
