Item Description
Decorative Terracotta Pot/Vase
A highly decorative three handled earthenware pottery jar or pot of fairly large bulbous baluster form.
Made from a hand coiled clay earthenware and fired in an outdoor wood fired kiln.
A marbled mixture of glossy burnished terracotta, wood fired, blackened kiln firing marks and a deliberately left rough strip of raw earthenware near the base combine to great overall aesthetic effect.
The potter has then inscribed geometric shapes and floral motifs using sgraffito techniques on the top half to reveal more of the raw earthenware underneath.
No makers mark or signature present but there is an overall handmade raw feeling.
The pot is in excellent vintage condition with no cracks, chips, repairs or significant damage present and only minor handling wear commensurate with age. Due to the raw handmade feeling of the piece it is hard to determine whether small indentations and rough areas are original to the piece or tiny areas of wear.
Overall approximate measurements 34cm high x 34cm wide x 34cm deep.
