Item Description

Mid-20th Century trio of fairground automaton amusement cat figures

A set of 3 unusual mid-20th century English fairground automaton amusement cat figures. Made from synthetic material covered in cotton fabric. 2 of the 3 figures still have their mechanical movements inside. The heads move from side to side with arms that raise as do the legs. They still have their metal base supports in place that would have been attached to a larger support scene of sorts. It’s likely these figures would have been painted or dressed at one point to be displayed as animated moving objects at a fairground attraction.

These figures do not stand alone as photographed.

Size: H 23” x W 7” x D 5”
Origin: English
Date: 1940 to 1960
Condition: Aged

Aged objects with wear and tear across all the surfaces as shown, the animation mechanisms move but only from the inside of the bodies atm. One figure doesn’t have any mechanical movements in it. They do not stand alone and would need stands to support them. Currently these objects are for display purposes only.
