Item Description
Italian Celestial globe compiled on the Hesi & Gould catalogues by Eng. Pini and published in 1892 by Gussoni & Dotti Milano piazza del Duomo.
The globe is paper mache covered with hand tinted & watercolored copper plate engravings, mapping the apparent positions of the stars in the sky. The base is turned pine with its original ebonised finish.
In all round good condition, with some minor losses to the mapping and a elderly repair to the base. Measures: Height 48 cm, globe diameter 24 cm
Giovanni Gussoni in 1874 bought the business of Antonio Ronchi typographer in Via Unione 5 in Milan, and then moved in 1883 to the shop of the Southern Porticoes in Piazza Duomo. Giovanni Gussoni was followed by his son Vittorio
