Item Description

A fantastic pair of patinated and gilt bronze campana vases, after the Medici and Borghese models. Classic egg and dart overhanging rim, above a waisted body cast in relief with a continuous scene of mythological figures, the acanthus lower section flanked to each side by a fluted handle centred by foliage, with satyr mask terminals, on fluted spreading socle and square plinth upon a black marble base.

Circa 1860, likely obtained while on European grand tour

The urns have been later converted to up-lighters, with glass circular inserts, and a small drill hole to the back of the marble base. Can easily been removed if desired, but for the time being we have left as is, and just updated the wiring and bulb holders.

32cm in height
Marble base 17.5/17.5cm
