Item Description
12 Botanical engravings by Johann Wilhelm Weinmann from the famous 18 th century work ‘ Phytanthoza Iconographia’ . This was a pioneering work of 1000 botanical engravings from drawings by Dionysius Ehret. This was one of the first works to use a newly developed printing process which combined engraving with mezzotint - this facilitated fine detail and shading which was then enhanced by hand colouring.
These beautiful engravings are presented in complimentary silver gilt Italian frames which support AR70 glass which provides some protection against the damaging effect of sunlight and cuts reflection so that the image quality is vivid and uninhibited.
We have a good selection of unframed Weinmanns in addition to the various sets on display on DC. We are happy to split sets ( not fruit or tulips sets) and or assist with putting together a set of your own choosing.
