Item Description
A rare set of four beech bentwood and cane chairs designed by Josef Hoffmann, dating from the early 20th century. The chairs are in excellent original condition, with remnants of their paper labels still intact. The caned backs and seat pads are in good shape, remaining sound and intact.
Featuring attractive scrollwork on the tops and tails of the backrests, the upper supports are finished with turned finials. The chairs stand on elegant, splayed legs, joined by a bentwood stretcher, further highlighting their refined craftsmanship.
With minimal wear consistent with age, they have a warm patina and a lovely appearance reminiscent of the more common Thonet style. The chairs are ideal for use in the kitchen, bedroom, or as occasional seating, offering both beauty and functionality. Seat height is 47cm.
