Item Description
For the lovers of timeworn patina and distressed look this is a fabulous and one of a kind antique French bust on a stand that dates from the Empire period, the beginning of the 19th century. Both the statue and the stand are hand carved from wood and gilded. The bust is a Roman portrait that most probably was once a desk accessory. The statue and the stand together measure about 22.5 x 21 x 13.5 cm or approximately 8.8 x 8.2 x 5.3 inches. In lovely timeworn condition with signs of ageing that in my opinion only enhance its true beauty and curiosity today. It is exactly as I discovered it recently in Avignon in the South of France.
