Item Description
A good quality condition and richly toned Ecclesiastical figural stained glass window circa 1890 from the studio of Clayton & Bell.
This spectacular late 19th century stained glass panel detail titled 'Christ in St Joseph’s Workshop’ - Christ is shown seated and holding a file with St Joseph standing to the centre holding a saw, while Mary is seated to the left observing their work.
Clayton and Bell were a prominent English stained glass firm known for their high-quality work during the Victorian era and this panel is a perfect reflection of this.
In a quality size it is presented in a complementing frame ready to be featured where it can be flooded with daylight and the scene is brought to life.
CONDITION REPORT
Good structural condition. Unsigned but attributed to the studio of Clayton and Bell. Black painted pine frame. Saddle bar across the centre. One crack in yellow glass below foot. Crack next to man in pink robe. Crack to headscarf on pink robe man. One crack to handle of the saw. All very minor conservation repairs.
