Item Description
An antique neoclassical finely cast composition wall panel with a stunning glazed ebonised frame.
In a large landscape form, this handcrafted plaque is decorated in relief showcasing the classical figural scene of 'Diana and Her Nymphs' based off the 1859 original bronze by French metalworker and sculptor Ferdinand Barbedienne.
This romantic scene portrays Diana, Roman goddess of the moon and hunt, with her nymphs engaged in archery practice, originally inspired by the 'Fontaine des Innocents’; a Renaissance found in Paris created by Jean Goujon in 1550.
All details of this panel have been carefully crafted; the figures are slightly raised from the background creating a subtle depth surrounded by the frame in a desirable distressed finish.
The impressive scale only adds to this charming yet intriguing decorative piece, perfect for an interior wall display in any period property looking to add neoclassical flair.
You could just imagine them displayed together within a grand room.
CONDITION REPORT
