Item Description

A beautiful set of antique acid etched glass double doors, the two main panels artistically glazed with an acid etched riverbank scene depicting a swan, crane and birds among water, fish and shrubbery. Exquisitely detailed, these antique double doors make a stunning set of dividing doors in an interior entrance hall, traditional kitchen or dining room.

Acid Etched Glass Doors
Often found in Victorian properties and listed buildings, acid etching – or French embossing – is a specialist, time-honoured technique developed in the mid 1800s. This skilled and labour-intensive process involves applying glass with a coating which is then etched with a decorative design and exposed to acid. This exposure corrodes the glass, creating variances of texture and tone. This results in a highly decorative and artistic finish that brings elegance and beauty to any setting.

CONDITION REPORT
Good structural condition. Simulated birdseye maple finish to both sides. Chips and scuffs to the paint. Rebated. No cracks. If desired, these doors could be reduced in height by trimming at the base.
