Item Description

A fine pair of four-branch ormolu wall lights after a model by Pierre-François Feuchère, the popularity of his designs enduring from their origins at the end of the 18th century until the beginnings of the 20th century; this pair made during the last quarter of the 19th century, around 100 years after the originals.

The design features a core support made to resemble a quiver of arrows, gadrooned and wrythen, suspended from a ribbon-tied drape and terminating in a pine cone finial. Each of the four branches are reeded and cast with acanthus leaf motifs issuing from the central stem.

French, circa 1880, the quality commensurate with that of the design.
