Item Description

Decalcomania vase lamp
A glass vase decorated with chinoiserie figures, botanical devices, birds and insects on a white ground, the images transferred onto the inside of the glass. Now converted as a lamp with turned gilded base and cover, wired with gold braided flex, bayonet cap bulb holders and PAT tested.
Probably French, late 20th century

Decalcomania was originally invented by a Frenchman in around 1750 and is a method of transferring prints, images or engravings from specially prepared paper and fabric onto metal, glass and pottery.

Height of lamp 15” (38cm), height to top of bulb holder 18" (46cm).
