Mid 18th.c. longcase clock by William Harley of Shrewsbury c.1740. Mahogany case of particularly good colour with several distinctive early features. Note the steep broken pediment to the hood, the slim body and long door and the very unusual belly shaped base. Eight day works striking the hours on a bell. Square brass face with separate engraved chapter ring, seconds dial and working date display. Original pierced brass spandrels and a simple engraved detail to the centre. Named for William Harley of Salop, the old name for the county of Shropshire. Excellent condition, retaining the original hand blown glass in the door. Cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
