Item Description

Early C20th handpainted iron fairground automation with a comedy scene, part of a shooting gallery. The figures have articulated heads, arms and legs. Originally, when hit with a pellet gun, the automaton would have been activated, and the drunken man would stagger and be waved away by his furious wife as he staggers in the doorway of the room. The mechanism is still partially working, when turned by hand. A squeeze box is mounted on the rear which would have provided sound effects. There are lots of scratches and knocks commensurate with its age and use. This is a rare find - a true curiosity!
