18th Century Italian Walnut Coffer
18th Century Italian Walnut Coffer.
This coffer is particularly stylish with its carved detail. Made from finely figured walnut, it has a plain, hinged top. The pilasters are decorated with exceptional carved flowing guilloche ornament and in the centre of the panelled front is a strapwork cartouche with a large, well carved floral motif. The sides are also panelled and it stands on bun feet to the front. The panels and the apron are moulded. Inside, the coffer there is a small storage box and the whole inside has been paper lined.
