Item Description

Purpose Made 'BISTRO' style Brass Framed Wall Mirror, created for an Ocean Liner in the French Merchant Fleet, either pre-dating the First World War or immediately after in the early 1920's.
With its 'bistro style' brass frame and heavy panelled wood back the mirror is in good condition with some faint cloudiness in the corners.

Measures  43 inches x 40, ( 112 x 104 cms). In otherwise very good condition. Made in France circa 1910-1930

The classic French ocean liners like the SS France , Normandie, Lafayette, Ile de France and Liberté were the most luxurious passenger ships in history and were sumptously furnished and fitted.

This mirror would probably have been made for a saloon or bar on one of the ships , unfortunately We don't know which  it came from.
