Item Description
A Finely carved White Marble Font or Stoup (called Bénitier in French) which came from a church in the Pays De La Loire in France.
The Stoup was for sprinkling holy water on entering the church.
With a carved Walnut plaque made later as a top so that it can be used as a column for displaying a bust.
A typical geological vein runs up through one side of the column (see photos)
Measures 43 ins tall x 11ins diameter at the top, 13 ins at the base, (109 x 28 x 33 cms)
In good condition, The column disassembles and there are a few tiny chips where the pieces join.
