A late 19th century cast terracotta sculpture of 'The Wrestlers' finished in 'Pompein black'; a copy of a Roman marble sculpture in the Uffizi collection in Florence which itself is a copy of a lost Greek original from the 3rd century BC.
It depicts a striking and dynanic pose of two athletic men with their muscular bodies intertwined in a moment of struggle and tension.
