Item Description
A classically shaped elegant design to this particularly good example of an antique cast iron garden urn that is very heavy, well made and in excellent original condition with no damage. Not to confuse this with a later, more inferior piece, it is circa 1900.
It has an unusually simple reeded design to the rim, a gadrooned lower body with an integral socle and square base and is of a good large size at approx 59cm tall (excluding pedestal which is not included in the price). It's height allowing for flowers with long stems and will make a good feature piece either in the garden or in the home.
The width is approx 47cm wide, so has a good opening that will allow you to insert a large pot with a plant or suchlike in.
The old green paint decoration is naturally and nicely time worn and the colour will enhance a floral display.
Internally it has at the bottom an unusual perforated insert, so again, great for adding long stems through the holes provided and for drainage, but equally fine for adding a large flower display using a container or other means.
All in all a really lovely example that you can use to create an impressive statement feature with to enhance an entryway to welcome your visitors.
