Item Description
An original watercolour medical skin disease painting of a boy by W. Toogood Hill.
This is so clear and beautifully painted in watercolours, and the boy has such a sweet face.
The "boy" is actually Lorenzo West and was 11 years old when he was painted in 1892 in quite fancy clothes, in his best bow tie.
The colours are still bright and realistic.
It was probably the original painting which would then be used to copy into prints to go in medical journals for diagnosing.
W. Toogood Hill painted for noted scientist/surgeon Sir Jonathan Hutchinson’.
It is 41 cm long by 32 cm wide.
