Item Description
This highly elegant ceramic vase is a perfect illustration of the refinement of the fire arts during the Art Deco period. Moving away from the overloaded floral decors of Art Nouveau, ceramists of the 1920s and 1930s favored a return to stylized antique forms and gave primacy to the striking beauty of monochrome glazes.
Standing 25.5 cm tall, the piece adopts a classic amphora silhouette, flanked by two charming symmetrical handles ending in delicate scrolls. The true magic of the object lies in its glaze: an intense, deep cobalt blue enamel that catches the light beautifully. Upon close inspection of the lower part of the body, one discovers a subtle molded geometric relief decor (evoking a scale or honeycomb pattern), revealed by the natural pooling and nuances of the glaze during firing.
Offered in beautiful vintage condition, this vibrantly colored vase possesses an undeniable decorative presence. It will blend seamlessly into a classic, contemporary, or eclectic interior, displayed alone as a fine cabinet piece or adorned with a few flowers on a sideboard.
