6 English Angraves Bamboo And Rattan Chairs

A rare set of 6 bamboo chairs with rattan wrap by the Angraves company of Thurmaston, Leicester. Dating to the 1970’s this beautiful set of Chippendale style chairs comprises four carver and three dining chairs. Every chair is overall in super condition, with just some minor loss to the rattan weave on the central foot rest on three of the chairs (shown in the photos). Green cushions have a zipper and are washable.

All chairs are structurally excellent, and the woven seats are all in very good condition.

Angraves was founded in 1912 by George Angrave and his brother Robert Angrave.

In the 1950's, the company was taken over by Robert's son, Robert Ronald Angrave, who developed the business throughout the 1960's and 1970's.

The Brook Street firm supplied furniture to both small independent stores and major high street names.
Angraves was the last cane furniture manufacturer in the country and had held that position for some years until the company sadly closed it’s doors for the final time.
