Item Description
A decorative pair of mid-20th-century English cast-iron garden urns, each with a broad everted rim edged with foliate moulding, a rounded gadrooned body, and dragon-head handles emerging from acanthus scrolls. The urns stand on circular socle bases with repeating leaf ornament.
Cast in solid iron and retaining an older painted surface in deep red, the urns follow 19th-century classical revival designs, reflecting the continued taste for architectural ornament in English gardens well into the 20th century. Their surface finish has weathered attractively, giving a warm patina and a quiet, sculptural character suited to both traditional and contemporary settings.
Sturdy, decorative, and well-proportioned, they would make a striking addition to a terrace, entrance, or formal garden layout.
Shown here upon English Terracotta Tree Stumpery Pedestals by Gibbs & Canning available separately. Size per urn.
