Item Description
Late 19th.c. French campaign chest or travelling trunk c.1890. In mahogany with brass bindings and corners and large iron carry handles at the ends. Original stencilled lettering for Devaux (family name of one of the great French Champagne houses) on the top and front, with Marseilles faintly underneath. Fitted with a later brass latch with working lock. Paper label inside the lid for the specialist luggage makers Antoine Moli of Perpignan. Some wear and repairs, generally very good colour and condition. Restored cleaned and waxed in our workshops. Key supplied.
