Item Description
Spectacular Louis XV style French marble top commode with painted decoration c.1920. Original marble top with a serpentine shaped and moulded edge. Over a bombe chest of two large drawers. Lovely hand painted decoration of 18th.c. style chinoiserie scenes to the front and sides, within elaborate foliate borders again a cream ground with crackle effect. Large gilded brass handles and escutcheon plates. Superb large pierced gilded brass mounts to the shoulders running all the way down to the front feet. With another large mount to the shaped apron on the lower drawer front. Chestnut drawer linings. Excellent condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
