Item Description
Good set of four 17th.c. style oak dining chairs c.1920. Good quality facsimiles of chairs or 'joined backstools' of the type produced in South Yorkshire in the latter half of the 17th century. Tall decorative backrests with an arched top carved with flowers and foliage over three arches supported on slim turned spindles with a good carved stretcher below. Between slightly tapering rear stiles topped with distinctive scrolling finials. Single piece board seats with a moulded edge (seat height 18½"). Turned and block front legs and a turned and tapering front stretcher. Straight stretchers to the sides and rear. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
