Item Description
An attractive pair of mid 19th Century Anglo-Indian rosewood armchairs.
Each with a carved crest centred by a caparisoned elephant amidst foliate scrollwork, above leather-upholstered backs with brass studded borders. The shaped arms terminating in carved mythical beast supports, with matching leather-upholstered seats, raised on carved cabriole legs united by shaped stretchers. Retaining a wonderful deep colour and patinated leather, these chairs exemplify the distinctive fusion of Indian craftsmanship and Victorian taste.
