Item Description
The fine quality solid mahogany carcass of tall proportions, designed to fit into a wall recess with the outer frame flush to the wall, having an architectural cornice to an eight pane leaded domed glass door opening to reveal an acrid green painted interior with central carved shell with four shaped shelves, the lower panelled door housing a further two shelves, each with the original brass escutcheons and working locks with keys, the whole standing on a plinth base and surviving from early George III period England.
The piece is in good untouched order with no notable deficiencies. All of the door furniture is original and the painted interior is historic but not original. The bubbled hand-blown glass panes are also original. She could be polished if so desired.
An elegant and handsome architectural example lifting it above the rather more staid examples of the same period; proportion, quality and style all reign supreme here.
