Item Description
An antique Turkmen chuval cushion, repurposed from a hand-woven tribal cargo bag (chuval) originally crafted by nomadic Turkmen weavers of Central Asia.
The face of the cushion features the iconic, highly structured geometric gul (tribal crest) medallions. These are intricately knotted in a classic colour palette of deep crimson, rich madder reds, jet black, and warm ivory, with subtle forest green accents. The top seam is bound with a heavy, hand-braided dark cord, preserving the utilitarian ruggedness of its original tribal form.
In nomadic life, chuvals were prized storage bags hung inside yurts to hold clothing and household treasures. The generous, wide proportions of this piece reflect that heritage perfectly, making it an incredibly impressive, large-scale bolster or floor cushion.
The cushion has been finished with a high-quality, complementary backing and generously stuffed with a luxurious, heavy wool interior insert.
Due to the bespoke manufacture of the piece, the cushion cover is not removable or washable. Dab clean recommended, with a warm rung out cloth.
