Item Description
A charming early 20th Century Anatolian carpet with a simple design, woven with naturally undyed wool with colours including ivory, caramel and muted brown. These earthy colours have a slight colour variation which adds great depth and richness to the simple drawing.
Anatolian carpets have a rich heritage of rug weaving which began in the 13th century and were amongst the first wave of Oriental carpets exported to Europe. They can be seen in iconic paintings of many of the European masters including Memling, Lotto and Hans Holbein. Today these decorative carpets are highly appreciated for their simple designs, soft colours and lustrous wool.
It is in very good practical condition for everyday use.
A unique carpet that will add great charm and character to a contemporary or classical setting.
