Item Description
Circa 1920's. A stylish unusual walnut metamorphic table, by 'Fred Frances Foster of the Cotswold School'. The rectangular table, the top in book matched walnut, is hinged and when lifted the table expands with two more folded sections, each with the visible brass strap hinges on each of the additional sections, resting on multiple square legs with beading on the fore-edge braced by conforming stretchers, a hinged mechanism in the center
which supports the table when open. 'Fred Francis Foster '(1885-1968) was a British furniture maker and a leading figure of the Cotswold School of craftsmanship, he was a founding member of the Gloucestershire Guild of Craftsmen, worked with legendary designers like Peter Waals and Sidney Barnsley.
