Item Description
Circa 1920. A large mahogany freestanding desk by ‘Whytock & Reid of Edinburgh’, the top with original insert tan and embossed leather, with broad banding and simple fore-edge, the front a configuration of one long drawer flanked by a pair of pull out slide with two drawers beneath, the drawer tops are stamped ‘Whytock and Reid of Edinburgh’ multiple times, the drawer fronts are raised with panels of flamed book matched mahogany, beneath the drawer in the center is a shaped quarter bracket with a shaped frieze which continues around the desk, resting on four classic ‘Whytock & Reid’ cabriole legs finishing with a leaf shaped foot.
