A fantastic late 19th century carved oak newel post finial in the form of a man balancing a ball upon his head.
The newel post finial ball sits atop the frowning forehead of a carved figure with his eyes gazing up at it and mouth agape with concentration.
The figure has a small fixing hole evident just above the neckline to the back, otherwise the whole is in a very good condition indeed.
