Item Description
A Distressed Wall Cabinet from the European countryside.
Mid-19th century wall cabinet from the Northern European countryside, dating to around 1850.
Swedish in influence, with remnants of the original iron-ore paint finish in traditional Falu red-brown, associated with Sweden.
Constructed entirely from pine, with large hand-cut dovetails at the corners beneath the cornice and pelmet. The interior is fitted with a vertical divider and six shelves. The original blacksmith-made wall hanger remains in place on the back.
At some point in its life, a mouse has nibbled a small entrance through the doors, looking for food.
The doors retain their internal catch, although the original key is missing, they hang properly and stay closed. There is also some old worm, no longer active and treated.
