Item Description
A late 20th century tub armchair upholstered in deep red leatherette, with a high curved back flowing into shaped arms and a broad sprung seat.
The upholstery is finished with close-set decorative nailing around the lower edge and sides. Raised on dark-stained turned hardwood front legs, now fitted with modern metal castors.
The chair follows the form of traditional late 19th and early 20th century library and tub chairs, but its construction, timber and fittings suggest a considerably later date.
The sprung seat remains comfortable and the frame is sturdy in use, with a small degree of movement but no creaking. No maker’s marks or stamps have been found.
