Item Description
Late 18th Century Oak and Beech Refectory Table.
This large table has a planked top and is constructed from a combination of oak and beech, pegged together in the traditional manner. The top is particularly thick and sturdy and has attained a fine patination through years of use. The table stands on two end supports with a central stretcher with added decorative brackets. This form of refectory table, was originally used in the dining quarters of monasteries and other religious institutions.
A very substantial, heavy table.
