Item Description
An Extraordinary, 19th Century Italian Walnut Side Cabinet.
Of serpentine form, this lovely side cabinet was made in Italy in the late 19th century, it is remarkably well made and designed. The cupboard doors have exquisite parquetry decoration in the form of elaborate sunburst/starburst designs made from inlaid sections of contrasting light and dark timber. The central door is flanked by two architectural columns, they are also inlaid with burr timber. The top is shaped, conforming to the shape of the cabinet and is widely crossbanded. The classical columns to the sides have beautifully carved capitals. Each cupboard section contains shelving.
