Item Description
This is an antique admiral's writing station. An English, walnut and brass desktop correspondence or stationery case, dating to the Regency period, circa 1820.
Superb craftsmanship with a delightfully practical nature and excellent form
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order throughout
Select walnut stocks present fine grain interest, with warm caramel hues
The distinguished bookmatched fascia being particularly fetching
Fall front cabinet, dressed with a brass lock escutcheon — in working order, key present
Opening to reveal a suite of arcaded pigeon holes, lidded pen tray and a skiver
Finished in dark blue leather, the skiver is tooled and embossed with some gentle ageing
Replete with a pair of glass ink wells and two calligraphy pens
Graced with a protective baize cushion to the base
