Item Description
This is an antique Pembroke Table. An English, satinwood drop-leaf occasional or tea table, dating to the Regency period, circa 1820. Charmingly painted with Cherubic interest, enhancing the appeal of this fine early-18th century example.
Beautifully presented occasional table, with the benefit of extending leaves
Displays a desirable aged patina and in good order
Superb satinwood stocks present fine grain interest throughout
Rich caramel hues accentuated with lighter boxwood stringing
Usefully compact standard form, perfect for storage between use
Drop leaves extending gracefully upon twin flying arms, offering comfortable seating for two
Oval medallion to the top with quartered panel finish offers a distinctive appearance
Accentuated across the top and leaves with original, handpainted cherubic detail
Inset drawer to one side, dressed with a pair of oval drop handles and inset lock — key absent
Opposite end represents a faux drawer fascia for symmetry
The whole raised upon a quartet of slender, tapering legs in an elegant manner
