This is an antique pole screen. An English, rosewood and glass embroidered fireside heat reflector, dating to the William IV period, circa 1835.
A fine example showcasing excellent craftsmanship and exceptional decorative interest
Displays a desirable aged patina - in good order, with one small loss to the reverse
Select stocks present fine grain interest and bask in deep russet hues
Shield shape panel adorned with quality relief scallop shell motif
Glass panel offers a clear, bright view of the embroidery within
Needlepoint scene depicts a foliate wreath, with fine detail and wonderful colour
Screen height adjustable through 65cm, ideal for managing heat or display
Brass vernier to the reverse tightens securely upon the support to hold the panel in place
Striking barley twist motif accentuates the support stand, with cup and collar forms
Standing proudly upon a dashing hyperboloid tripod base with deep profile
Distinctive scrolled feet add a final flourish to the elegant silhouette
